The point of course was that the men on the "wheel" wanted to watch a program with girls, not more spaceships. Unless it was Return of the Jedi, with Carrie Fisher in her harem outfit.
Besides, this film takes place in 1985. Star Wars (1977), was of course available by then. Only no one in 1955 could have foreseen such far-out nonsense!
Nope. It's very obviously a 60" Plasma screen. Unless it's rear-projected movie film.
