that all women are either institutionalized, heinous power hungry witches who don't care who gets hurt by their choice of window treatments, or Lauren Bacall.

... and that all men are either so driven by their careers that they neglect their families to the point of nearly wrecking their marriages, or drunken womanizers who ignore their professional responsibilities to indulge their personal demons, or crazy.

Really, was there anyone in the film except Lauren Bacall who was genuinely sympathetic but sane?
