I would rather watch the stop motion in this than see CGI.

It's so much easier to look at and far more impressive.

I really don't understand the prejudice some people express against CGI. This is a very fine film and the effects are quite impressive. I first saw it at a kiddy matinee in the early '70s and it's well worth seeing in bluray quality. But... While I may not give a crap about the Jurassic "franchise" after the first film, I still have watched them and they (mostly) look incredible. It can be overused, in the sense that a film like Peter Jackson's King Kong put too many effects shots on screen and apparently because of time and money was unable to make all the dinosaur shots (in particular) good enough.
The handmade nature of stop motion films is still appealing, but it is no longer the cutting edge of realistic effects. I want to see whatever brings fantastic images to life most effectively.

The problem is the excessive CGI as well as they haven't fully mastered CGI. The movement in characters is just unrealistic and at no point do I feel like they are really part of the scene. But the worst thing I hate about CGI, is when the characters are CGI as well as the background. Nothing looks even remotely real.

This must come down to personal preference. I've know people who just couldn't watch Harryhausen films without commenting on every discrepancy between fore-ground, middle-ground and background... Every bit of blue fringe and every change in the scale of the figures... Not to mention the endless critiques of "jerky movement".
