Very good car stunt work!

The car chases and crashes in this film were very well done, especially for 1955 - particularly when the burning stolen police car is being pursued. I have to admire the stunt drivers who were able to race around in those top-heavy, skinny-tired old cars without wiping themselves out!

Look for this on the IMCDB soon.

Too bad they got to the jail stuff so fast.

I accept your surrender.

Just saw this the other night on the MOVIES channel (which means they're gonna show it again, yay!) and was impressed by the police chase scenes too. What astounded me was how they did all that crazy-a** flying/speeding up and down the roads without a single seat belt in sight (seat beats weren't really pushed until the 1960's, I believe.) I'd never seen the film, or anything about it, except as a mention in an entry in a video guide book about another film made about Caryl Chessman (the real-life criminal the film was based on.) The film itself was pretty good too, considering there were virtually no famous names, including the lead,William Campbell, who was pretty good (that I was familiar with, anyway) in it. It's also interesting in that the protagonist is an unrepentant thug literally right up until the end, when he's exhausted all his options, and has got no cards left to play to bargain for his freedom with. Good film, though.
