I sure hope there's more discussion here after the relese this week

I know that the reviews are tepid, but the theme is interesting and seeing George Raft and Edward G. Robinson even if they aren't at their best is worth watching.

Captain Warren 'Rip' Murdock: I'm the brass-knuckles-in-the-teeth-to-dance-time type.

I may not BUY the release, but at least rent it. I'm dying to remember the quote by George Raft in response to the promise of a "fair" trial.

*spoilers*

Leduc: "I'll make sure you get a fair trial."

Victor: "I am going to need an unfair trial."

Considering the charges he would be facing, he was right. The review of this movie was accurate, especially what was said about Robinson's very short and emotionless sentiments over his dead "friend". However, this exchange alone made it worth watching.

He would have been charged with at least:

Unlawful entry into Canada for the intention of engaging in unlawful purposes. Possession of forged documents. Three counts accomplice to murder after the fact, one upon a RCMP officer. Murder for hire. Illegal possession of a firearm. Conspiracy. Conspiracy to commit murder. Conspiracy to commit kidnapping. Four counts of kidnapping. Three counts of murder, including a Montreal police detective. Theft of a motor vehicle. Illegal export of cargo from a Canadian port, espionage and perhaps even treason.

I just watched it and found it pretty decent if unmemorable. Even if they aren't at their best, Raft and Edward G. are still fun to watch.

What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!

Part of the charm of these kinds of films are their flaws. Oh and don't forget Audrey Totter!
