Are they Gay?

There seem to be some clues that Mingo (Earl Holliman) and Fante (Lee van Cleef) have a romantic relationship.

This especially comes out near the end.

What do you think?

(PS Can't tell if Lee van Cleef had lost part of his right middle finger yet. I can't find a date on that accident.)

Oh, so maybe that's the reason for the title of the movie. When those two drop their pants they engage their "big combo"?

I didn't see it.

They shared a room, at the hoodlum's hotel I assume. They didn't share the same bed.

When they were hiding out, they didn't seem to be on the same page with the one guy wanting to bolt.

The one thug didn't seem that concerned about the other thug's damaged hand - hardly the type of behaviour you'd expect from someone who cares about you.

But I guess people see or don't see what they want to see.

People are going to see what they want to see, and today anyone in a close friendship is automatically assumed to be gay. Maybe they were, but there's nothing in the movie to prove it. They were friends. They shared a room (but not a bed). Mingo was broken up when he saw Fante's dead body. Nothing about any of that confirms gayness.
