Person with guitar in scene?

In the scene where Hotchkiss takes off his glasses and slugs Hookens, there is a soldier with a guitar sitting to Hotchkiss's left along a wall. My mother thought it was Andy Griffith, who is not in this film? Does anyone know who in fact that was?
