Snowball. Good or bad?

In the book he was wicked but this board is about the film. Snowball didnt do anything evil like Napoleon in the film although he was grumpy faced...anyway he wanted them educated n stuff and the windmill was his idea so i thought he wasnt that bad in the movie unless i missed something...

This is my signiture!

reply

He was as greedy as Napolean but knew he needed to help the people to help himself.

I need to think of a really kick @$$ signature, any ideas?

reply

Nah, Snowball was happy to accept the milk and apples (a slight flaw) but he genuinely wanted to educate the masses and have everyone pull together for the common good. Napoleon just wanted to keep them down.

reply

What?He was a Socialist you thick!

'Hey hey mama said the way you move!'

reply

Snowball represented Leon Trotsky. He was an avowed communist, but he wanted to spread communism throughout the world. A bit of an idealist. Napoleon (Stalin) beieved in the concept "Socialism in a single nation." His idea was to make the USSR into a world power and then use it as a force to overthrow non-communist regimes. It also meant that he had to gain absolute power for himself and crush all oposition. This is what he wanted to do ANTWAY. So out with Trotsky!(Snowball)

reply

we'll never know if he was truly good or truly bad since he never got a chance at running the farm

reply

Well, we know that he agreed with the rest of the pigs on all the special advantages for the pigs.

...........Snowball is symbolic of those in the upper level of Soviet Society who knew Stalin was evil, but didn't mind the perks of their position. They would rationalize that while Stalin was evil and had murdered millions of people he was still working for the greater good of society. They were also lacked the courage to do anything.
True genius is a beautiful thing, but ignorance is ugly to the bone.

reply

Yes, but Snowball was really representative of Leon Trotsky, Stalin's rival. Note how Napoleon insists on concentrating on the farm, like Stalin's policy of "Socialism in a single nation." While Snowball pushes Trotsy's plan for propagandizing the world for revolutions in all countries. In other words it is Trotsky's idea of the Comintern ( Communist International).

I think that was more squealer actually ^

reply

Snowball is symbolic of those communist leaders who opposed Stalin, mainly Trotsky. They certainly had the courage to oppose Stalin, who eventually killed them all.

I can't be bothered with a signature

reply

That makes sense, I remember in the book something about snowball wanting to start rebellions in other farms...
