this is undoubtedly the worst film I've ever seen in my life

I mean, that's pretty bad.

A separate peace was pretty bad, and Jumper was pretty bad, and Space Jam was pretty bad, but this is just atrocious.

This is the first film that I have ever cried at. Not because of the breath-taking character relationships, but because it was SO FREAKING AWFUL.

I mean, there's just some books that shouldn't be made into movies, and animal farm is the perfect example. But when you not only make the movie, but you make it a BAD movie, and when you not only make it a BAD movie, but you also CHANGE the ACTUAL ENDING OF THE BOOK to make it more suitable for children WHEN THE ACTUAL FILM WAS DIRECTED TOWARDS ADULTS THEN YOU KNOW YOUR IN TROUBLE.

This is the only film I've ever seen that I actually wish I hadn't seen. It's just really really really really indescribably bad.

The movie is actually pretty good and follows the book fairly well, except for the ending. The only reason why the ending is different is because of the CIA funding of it. But the ending actually adds more to the overall message. When we see leaders who are tyrannical in nature we have a responsibility as a people to put an end to it. I like the film. Right this second I am showing it to my tenth grade students and they are actually really in to it, which is pretty rare for them.

Dr. Cox: The point is... Newbie is my drunk baby.

I am glad to hear that a film like this still has a place in the schools for the discussion it inspires. Did they read the book also?

reply

I've gotten to where I LOL every time I see the subject line on IMDb. No matter what movie, some chucklehead will post it and spew some such lines as the OP did here. There may be a form letter for it somewhere and the OP just filled in the blanks.

reply

Indeed. A lot of times, the OP seems to resent the film because s/he was required to see it for a class, or s/he takes it as a personal affront.

If there were a form letter for such posts, it would include phrases like "two hours I'll never get back," "I'd rather watch paint dry," or "What were they thinking?"

I've seen many bad films, and I don't regret seeing any of them. Nor would I rather watch paint dry. Filmmakers spent months or years on a movie, and all we have to do is sit back and enjoy it (or not). And this one was quite good for its time.

Glad to hear "Animal Farm" is still being showed in at least one school. Surprised it hasn't been banned by the current administration.
This movie resonated with me when I was in grade school in much the same way Atlas Shrugged did while in college. The parallel with todays political scene is almost spot on and kids need to see this more than ever. Thanks for exposing young minds to rational thought.

reply

Where did you get the bullcaca idea that the Obama administration hates Animal Farm and wants it banned? Your comment's as much nonsense as the OP (with a similar form letter set-up) and sounds like Obama Derangement Syndrome.

reply

Why not have your students read the book?

reply

Well, since the ending of the movie more accurately reflects what would actually happen, I think we can let it slide.

Banana: A yellow fruit. Also, a kind of pudding. A delicious pudding.

reply

You realize the book was based on the revolution in Russia and the following rise of Stalin right? So no, this ending did not accurately reflect what would happen, because that isn't what happened. There was no great overthrowing of the tyrant. Sometimes things just suck for a very long time. Not a happy ending maybe, but an honest one.

reply

Apparently you haven't seen "The 400 Blows", which majorly blows. My brains out.

(Incidentally, I like this film - not fantastic, but not horrible at all. I 1st saw it thanks to middle school, myself.)

reply

Animal Farm isn't just a close minded Stalin parody. It holds more meaning in themes of revolution and dictators in general as much more can be taken from it.

The new ending doesn't hurt the story. It's not even changing the ending as much as it's adding another page to it that could of very well been what could of happened. Either that or what everyone just died and got lost.

The point is still made and it leaves the question of what horror shall come from the new revolution to overthrow Napoleon

I might be wrong, but I heard that they changed the ending because Stalin died while this was being filmed, so it suited the movie for that time.

I have my doubts if the original poster for this thread, 'lucky_devil', is even aware of the George Orwell classic by the same name. By looking at his posts there as several which get the vote, 'the worst film', which leads me suspect that 'lucky_devil' is little more than an internet troll.

You know what's "Bad"? Your review of this movie! It's just really really really bad. It's so bad. Just bad. There are just some thoughts that shouldn't be made into posts...especially when they are sooo bad. bad bad bad bad bad bad bad blah blah blah blah!

Worst review I've ever read. This is the only post I've ever read that I actually wish I hadn't. Just indescribably bad!

reply

Calm down, dear.
By the way it's YOU'RE not YOUR. It's not difficult.
