The way they deal with love

What do you think?
One of them kill herself after discovering the love is not reciprocate, the artist knows he is cheating her, but somehow, endures and maintain the relationship because "maybe is harder". The other towards the end is really hesitating, but for me, decides in a strong way.
She doesn't quit to her development, her personality.
Marriage would mean her domination by her husband. For those years, something very normal.
