I would like to reply to Simon's review. The reason we don't make movies like this anymore is: before, the actors wanted to make a good movie; now they want to make themselves look good. Hence empty movies, flamboyant casts.

Although this is an old thread I've only just come across it.

I agree with all of the comments above. This film was made when actors acted.

What a silly thing to say! Check out the films that have won best picture since this film came out in 1955. You will find dozens of films that blow this away.
