Not a bad film, but sort of bland

A couple of funny scenes -- the scene where the doctor's body keeps getting moved and the medallion in the hamburger scene -- keep this film from being completely bland. It's pretty sad when the female lead is more menacing than the monster.

The mummy outfit was the worst they did better in the earlier mummy films

The Mummy costume/make-up was terrible in A&CMTM compared to the classic Universal Mummy films.I cannot believe that the very same studio dropped the ball so badly. They were diligent with the make-up for the Wolf man,Dracula,& the monster in A&CMF,Mr.Hyde's make-up in A&CMDJMH,& the FX for the Invisible Man in A&CMTIM.What happend?

Well it was made in 55 and I think the duo were slightly going out of favour at this time and their films were just becoming choirs and consequently lower budgeted.I like the film it's just not one of their best IMO.

You hit the nail on the head, just watched the movie (pretty "bland" as the subject line says) & read the Production Notes included in the DVD....states the A&C movies were already in pretty bad decline and not making much of a profit at this point in time....but then goes on to say this one pulled in a better then expected profit and Universal reached out to extend the contract, which A&C declined, making it their last Universal film.
