The Office of Scientific Investigation

I was reading in a book about 50's sci fi movies ; Bill Warrens KEEP WATCHING THE SKIES, that the two films(THE MAGNETIC MONSTER 1953 AND GOG 1954) produced by Ivan Tors who produced SFT, that both films (correct) featured a government agency called The Office of Scientific Investigation. If I recall, Warren stated that this fictional government agency turns up on a few episodes if SFT. Since I haven't seen this show in a long time , is Warren correct?

He was right. I watched several episodes tonight, and The Office of Scientific Investigation was mentioned in at least one of them. I believe it was the episode titled 'The Last Barrier' (season 2, episode 12).

The OSI was the subject of Tors's first attempt at a TV series -- The Magnetic Monster essentially served as its pilot -- but it didn't sell.

But he included the organization in all three of his 50s sci-fi films -- not just The Magnetic Monster and Gog, but (more briefly) in Riders to the Stars as well. So it was natural for him to keep it going in some episodes of his show that did get on the air, Science Fiction Theatre.

I always thought the OSI was a great concept: a serious, technocratic office dedicated to the understanding and advancement of science. Lucky for them there were so many aliens and anomalies to explore!
