Even provacative now

What fascinated me as a young boy was the prolonged kissing. Bob would have some new model with gravity-defying breasts and they'd kiss for what seemed like a very long time. Joi Lansing was one of those models who I had an enormous crush on for several decades. She sometimes pops up (yes) in a Sci-fi movie from the 50s.

Joi Lansing was an impossibly beautiful woman.

When I was a boy I would think that if I were Bob Collins I would have focused my attention only on her. Hold it right there! What a doll!

reply

Yeah! I've only seen one episode, and I found it strange the main character in the show was so lecherous... For 1958.

My, you're nosey, aren't you?

"There is nothing new under the sun...." or on TV.

reply

Escalera, you're absolutely right.

Just because there was less of something (anything) back then, that doesn't mean there was NONE of it... but Hollywood has painted a portrait of life in the 50s, trying to make it look bad so we'll feel better about the present, and people end up with some very distorted ideas about the past.

reply

It is possible that some things were better then, and the same could be said about the present. There is a trade-off.

Bob Collins was a wolf, an idealized bachelor in a plum position to meet beautiful women. Maybe nobody was ever really like that, but viewers probably wished it was so. That's why it was a popular show.

I lived thru those so called wonderful years as well and they just weren't all that peachy, Bob Cummings or no. Many memories are clouded, believe it or don't.

Time is the only true purgatory.
