Where are the reruns???

Can we please get this show back on TV in reruns? I'm tired of TV Land pandering to people in their 30's and 40's. Let's get some reruns from the 50's and 60's back on television!!!

Nickelodeon needs another channel in addition to TV Land, they need TV Vault - where all the golden oldies are!! (Love that Bob, Honeymooners, Peoples Choice, Topper, My Little Margie, I Married Joan, Hazel, Donna Reed, Dennis the Menace,,,etc.)

Many of these shows are on DVD. I got a $1 3-episode DVD of this show at Walmart and a similar $1 DVD of "Topper" at Dollar Tree. Also, I rented "I Married Joan" and "My Little Margie" from Blockbuster.

The problem is, only about 20 of the episodes are on DVD, so, unless a series/season-by-beason box-set is released, how are we ever going to see the other 100+ episodes?

This really needs to be on MeTV or something...

Please excuse typos/funny wording; I use speech-recognition that doesn't always recognize!

So who do we talk to get these wonderful (& refreshingly 'new') shows back on TV?????????

reply

Please bring back those exquisite oldies. If we can't open up a 2nd feed of TV Land, at least air them once a week, like on a Sunday morning, or on an overnight basis.

You're absolutely correct of course, and I agree, I would even pay a premium for those shows on a pay channel.

Billy 321,

I know I'm late on this one but you're absolutely right. I would like to echo your sentiments:

DIE, SEVENTIES, DIE.

It was, by far, the WORST era for pop culture that you could imagine. Think of the music, TV, films, etc, exceptions noted, not to mention the clothing. Disco anyone?

And Norman Lear single handedly lowered the standards of comedy for all-time. I wish the bastard was never born.

About "The Bob Cummings Show," or, as I remember it, "LOVE THAT BOB," don't hold your breath waiting to see it on regularly. It seems we live in an era where black and white shows do not get air time. Think of it: Bilko, Jack Benny, the Jackie Gleason Show (Not the Honeymooners), Burns and Allen, etc, etc, not to mention all the fabulous drama series like "Playhouse 90" which created shows better than any feature film today.

God, forgive us.

I agree with everyone how the 70's TV shows are shown too much on TV Land. I gave up on TV Land when they started showing MASH, yuck.

When we got our DTV converter last month for a TV without cable, we found there is a digital channel here in Raleigh, NC 50.2 that shows old black and white shows like Bachelor Father and color shows such as Ironside. And with old commercials too! I love it, it's called Retro Television Network. If only RTN (RetroTelevisionNetwork) would show Hazel.

I used to email TVLand back in the late 90's to show Hazel and they never responded to my requests. I plan on emailing RTN maybe they will listen, also maybe they will air Love That Bob as the premise of the show is similar to Bachelor Father.

I agree about bringing back the oldies, at least some of them. The true test of time is whether a show has such classic humor that you're still laughing at it 50+ years after it premiered. I've had this experience with shows like "Dobie Gillis," "Jack Benny," and "Leave it to Beaver." And Washington Post TV critic Tom Shales said that watching "The Honeymooners" was like listening to Beethoven---you know it all by heart, so you just sit back and wait for your favorite parts.

Recently, though, I caught a couple of old eps of "My Little Margie" and "I Married Joan," which I thought had aged very poorly and were not funny (and were sometimes painful) to watch. But I still think that anyone who is interested should be able to watch a variety of the old shows and form their own conclusions.

As I write this there are 20 Public Domain episodes available for viewing or download at Internet Archive http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=mediatype%3Amovies%20AND%20sub ject%3A%22Love%20That%20Bob%22
