Wyatt Earp in Wichita

I noticed that the TV version of Wyatt Earp described in the book Total Television described it as taking place in Dodge City, Kansas the first four years and then in Tombstone, Arizona after that. I also happen to have a TV episode of one of the early shows on a DVD of TV Classics. The one episode I have shows Earp as marshal of Wichita, Kansas. I realize Earp never was a marshal or a sheriff, but was a policeman under Mike Meagher in Wichita for a time. I guess my real question, though, is: why does the book Total Television not mention Earp as being shown as marshal of Wichita in an early episode?

Sounds like they just goofed.

In episode 1 of this series (just aired today on the western channel) he became the Sheriff in Ellsworth Kansas.

Raylan Givens: You make me pull, and I'll put you down.

Part of the confusion stems from the fact that they were filmed on the same lot. Telltale sign: season one, episode 20 "A Wise Calf". The stablemaster in Wichita is named Moss Grimmick, same as in Dodge City.

I just watched the "Wise Calf" episode. When I saw "Moss Grimmick" on the stable, it sort of threw me. I thought, "Wyatt is still in Wichita, isn't he?" Then I thought maybe the Moss Grimmick reference was some kind of "in" joke. But the thing about filming on the same lot makes sense.

The timeline is like this: Ellsworth, then Wichita, then Dodge City, then Tombstone.
