Not as good as it could have been....

Although I liked Hugh O'Brian in the lead, despite his lack of a mustache, the thing about this series that made it very annoying was all that "humming". Jeez, that drives me crazy!!! Otherwise, the series was rather entertaining, especially during the later seasons, when the action started picking up. I wish someone would remove the humming, and release this on DVD that way.

The Ken Darby Singers also "hummed" the soundtrack to The Adventures of Jim Bowie. It cost less than an orchestra score and was thought to add a different character to the series. In the later seasons they kept the sung opening and closing but used a more traditional orchestra score during the episodes. Ken Darby had a long career in Hollywood with his choral conducting and arranging, and he often worked with Alfred Newman on that composer's scores.
