We've gotten past Dennis Weaver and Burt Reynolds (just as a timeline, it's 11 years) but ...

I think I've noticed a marked move forward in cinematography. I've seen some touches of Film Noir, extreme close-ups and accentuated use of Shadows, utilizing the B&W palette.
It's quite remarkable for a decade old oater to find a new groove and reinvent itself while maintaining it's integrity, it's core essence.
Some of the scenes are shot like an homage to Fritz Lang, fer gosh sakes.
