Which came first - the TV series or the books?

When I was in about 6th grade, I happen to come across an old book called "Fury, Stallion of Broken Wheel Ranch". Being a normal 12 yr old girl, I read everything I could on horses and this became one of my favorites. Reading today about the death of Robert Graves, I realized there was a TV series based on the books - or so I originally thought. I've looked online and can't find a reference to the books hardly at all. The date in the front of the book is 1959, and since the series was on in 1955, I'm guessing the books came second.

So- how many books are there? I did find a copy of "Fury and the White Mare" at some point, and "Fury and the Mustangs" is listed in the front of my book. Any more?

And I purchased the DVD's I could find on Amazon, I can't wait till they come!

Thanks!

I believe the TV show was based on a book of the same name. The author was Troy Nesbit who is better known by his real name, Franklin Folsom.

Hi Jenna,

There are at least 3 different "Fury" books written by Teddy Parker, published by the Western Publishing Company and a publisher called whitman Comp., both located in Racine, WI.

Troy Nesbit wrote one book, Albert G. Miller wrote 3 Fury volumes and William Fenton wrote one.
As I only have nine of the German translations (and way back in the sixties German publishers were not forced to list the original US titles), I cannot tell you if there are more than 9 books about Fury and Joe, but there are at least nine volumes in German, so there might be even more in English.

I would check amazon.com, select "books" and type in Fury + Teddy Parker and see what comes up and then type in the other authors as well.
If you scroll down a bit, usually other sequels will be listed.
Good luck!

The actor's name was Peter Graves, not Robert Graves.
