What a wonderful show

It has been fun to read some of the threads here in the forum. I watched Captain Kangaroo in the middle to late 1960s. It has a strange place in the cobweb that's left of my memories. I feel that even at the time as a five year old I was wondering, "Is this real? Am I really seeing this on TV?" And the fact that I always watched it alone may have help me wonder that. But others have mentioned that it would sometimes get a little surreal and I know that hooked into my brain. The memories make me nostalgic for the simplicity of watching this show in the mornings alone in the basement on an old black and white TV. I was sure that the Captain was a friend of mine.

I feel sorry that the episodes weren't save and replayed so that my daughters could have had the benefit of this same off-tilt learning that I received from The Captain, Bunny Rabbit, Grandfather Clock, Dancing Bear, Tom Terrific, Mr. Green Jeans, and the others I have forgotten.
