So this was like Mr. Roger's Neighborhood and Pee-wee's Playhouse right?

I didn't grow up with this show but people in the 50s-80s did.

'Captain Kangaroo' was a completely unique series, much like 'Mister Rogers' Neighborhood'....Gentle and entertaining....

I'd say a cross between the two shows would be a good description. Gentle and entertaining with a bit of fantasy world thrown in.

This show was nothing like Pee Wee's Playhouse.

I would say Pee Wee's Playhouse was an homage to old shows like the Captain and the locally-produced kids' shows that ran in the 1950s up through the early 1970s.
