He’s always looking at me with his nose in the air all snooty-like. WHAT?! YOU THINK YOU’RE BETTER THAN ME, ALFRED?!

"His daughter Patricia told the story that every Wednesday he would screen films on the lot in his office. The last one he screened before he died was his favourite film of the past few years. You know what that was? Smokey and the Bandit.”

This may suggest he was not snobbish. That, or enjoyed movies that were the opposite of his deep thinker thrillers. I would not be surprised one bit if he did a lot of character acting in public like on the show to further sell his brand, blending his real life personality with his artful persona.

And don't you just know he enjoyed every minute of it, being able to ham it up. One wonders underneath his layer of pretend, if true, was a thoughtful but reserved man of greater intellect than what he led on.

I thought that was the upper middle class British stereotype. However, I just saw Whodunit on AHP and if mystery writer Alexander Arlington was supposed to be him, then he was on the snooty side. Will have to see Hitchcock the move.
