For those who've seen Mr. Pelham

Could this issue not have been solved by a fingerprint or handwriting analyst?

I enjoyed this episode because I have a doppelganger since high school. He is a year or two younger than me. We both were mistaken for each other several times then and afterwards. At a high school reunion, someone made a comment that we looked alike to others who knew both of us. Back in high school I didn't know him that well and didn't think we looked alike. However, the mistaken identities clinched it. I've had strangers who had mistaken me come real close to my face in order to tell. Recently, I saw him on social media and connected. The way he looks now after thirty years is similar. However, it's true that if you put us side-by-side, then one would be able to tell the difference.

With Mr. Pelham. this is more than a case of identity theft. It includes a doppelganger and mental breakdown, as well. Pelham screwed up because he told the psychiatrist but not the police. Had he contacted the police, then they would have some way to identify him such as his driver's license/ID, a couple of bills he paid and a phrase between them. If it became worse, then a fingerprint or handwriting sample may have been necessary.
