blacklisted writers

I just learned that most of the writers of this show were American blacklisted writers, some academy award winners, who couldn't work on US shows. Link to NPR story here: http://beta.wnyc.org/shows/fishko/2010/jun/25/.

After going to the link and reading the story, I had an immediate flashback to my childhood. Watching the series with my family as a child, fifty and more years ago, I remember my father would always make a comment something like, "This is McCarthy's revenge." In 20/20 adult hindsight, amidst this revelation, it makes perfect sense. Another poster, Poordogabone I believe it was, referred to this unique situation in another thread on this board. Good find!

Here's the link for the part of the six-part Ring Lardner, Jr., interview that deals with the story of blacklisted American writers producing pseudonymous scripts for The Adventures. It's both informative and witty.
