Question about the first episode

When Robin first returns to his castle home, the gate is barred. So he loosens a stone in the wall that allows him to scale his way to the top. Was that stone just a coincidence, or was it specially designed as an alternate way in that only the owner would know about?

If it was intentional- what name do you give to a stone like that?
