shareI have wondered the same. I saw it on the Western Channel. Their version was not only in B&W, but standard fram. According to IMDB the original (color) version is a 1.85:1 Widescreen.
judging by someone's comments on this site, evidently this was shown by TCM as well. I wonder if they showed it in color/WS.
The only prints MGM had left are B&W. A friend of a friend has a color 35mm print and may be reselling it back to MGM.
