Mamie van Doren was one of the hottest, sexiest of Hollywood's blonde bombshells of the 1950s. Clark Gable was quite taken with her when he co-starred with her in TEACHER'S PET (1958). One of my favorite of her B-movies is BEAUTY AND THE ROBOT, aka: SEX KITTENS GO TO COLLEGE (1960). Another one of her great films is HIGH SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL (1958) co-starring Russ Tamblyn. It's too bad Hollywood didn't give her some quality roles in big-budget pictures like they did Marilyn Monroe. She was a talented actress, beyond her erotic sex appeal.

She was a talented actress, beyond her erotic sex appeal.You`re absolutely right. Some of her best performances are in Girls Town and Star in the Dust, which I commend to everybody`s attention. The former is not a good movie, but Mamie rises above. The latter is quite good despite John Agar`s typically bland performance in the lead, thanks to a professional cast that includes Paul Fix, Coleen Gray, Richard Boone, and William Schallert.
