Music by Herschel Burke Gilbert

The film wasn't served very well by its music. I found it repetitive with the overuse of the same ten-note musical phrase over and over again with almost no variation. There were also accents on onscreen action that were a bit heavy-handed. However, there were times when the music helped build tension and excitement, so it did have some qualities.

Music at this period became loud and obnoxious. By this time, the smooth integration of score and movie of the 30's and 40's had been replaced by ill-fitting music intended to cover up weaknesses in direction and script. This film, while served poorly by the score, does have some moments of silence. Modern movies often have music all through to the point of irritation. The 50's deterioration of music in film was the just the beginning of the end of perfectly integrated score and film.
