The BRAINWASHING Opening Title Footage

The score is by Leith Stevens (War Of The Worlds, Destination Moon, etc) but he is just 50% of what makes that opening title footage so special.

The guys, including Brando, are on on their bikes, but they are just pretending to ride, with the very obvious studio screen behind them (providing a moving road).

Why do I keep putting this intro on DVD "repeat"??? Why am I so addicted to it??? This footage just seems to perfectly capture the sights and sounds of another time in Hollywood. Like a great painted I guess. Or a great music video? Do you have the same reaction?? Or am I going mad??

Yes.

I love that opening, makes me want to be there, if only for a while.
It's evocative of something special, wonderful, impossible to define.
Yes it's like a painting, but it's more alive than that (for me).
Glad someone else senses it too.

The meaning of "brainwash" eludes you, doesn't it?

I think the word you're looking for is mesmerising, not brainwashing

I have to admit I found that particular scene neither mesmerising, nor "brainwashing". It got me chuckling. I can't be the only one...surely!🐭

It made me LOL too!, especially seeing that guy smoking a cigar while riding like a rebel, OMG! Funny stuff!
