When Curt Bridges was found and taken back home by horseback, was he dead or badly hurt?

I just got finished watching this movie. I think it's pretty safe to assume he's dead. I don't think anyone could survive that fall.

I also assumed Curt had died.
He ran down a snowy mountain, did a 10/10 catapult, body skied , and then tumbled into a 40 foot chasm. He somehow didn't see even though it was a clear night and he was obviously an experienced outdoorsman. Unintentionally funny.
