Inspired by or remake of 'Ladies in Love'?

There seems to be remarkable similarities between Three Coins in the Fountain and a 1936 film called Ladies in Love. Apart from Ladies in Love being set in Budapest while Three Coins is set in Rome, the characterisations and storyline are very similar.

Does anyone know whether Three Coins could be a remake of Ladies in Love?

reply

No. Its based on John H. Secondari's novel "Coins in the Fountain". Its always possible Secondari was influenced by "Ladies in Love" but certainly never acknowledged by him.

Thank you tnsprin-2 for responding. I'll look out for Secondari.

I saw that movie two years ago. Tyrone Power was in it.
