What would have made this perfect?

There's only one more thing that would have made this already super classic film a perfect film.

When Leonard Nimoy is at the teletype, they really needed to have Deforest Kelly enter, grab the teletype from him, and insult him for not showing any emotion while reading it. Yep. Then it would have been the perfect film.

You are being totally illogical.

Maybe JJ Abrams will add that scene in his remake!

And if DeForest Kelley had been in any scenes with the two lead actors, it would have required several retakes before he quit addressing them both as "Jim" rather than by their character names.

DeForest Kelly should have been at the desert scene where they killed the 1st ant. He would examine the ant and turn to James and James and say, "It's dead Jims."
