Where is the DVD???

Universal, where is the Technicolor DVD of this classic western? Better yet, is there a planned release in 3-D for new 3-D HDTVs? Now that would make it worthwhile for a major home theater investment to see films like this, and IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE, and CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON in real 3-D.
I heard and have seen the video box for the Spanish Region 2 DVD release of this film, but where is the American Region 1 release?

You can play the sensio version in your pc through Stereoscopic player into your HD3D tv.

Yes, for those of us wealthy enough to afford Sensio equipment or a new 3-D HD TV, I'm sure this movie will look great in your home theaters.

The regular version will be released on September 30th, 2010 as part of the TCM Vault boxset "Douglas Sirk Filmmaker Collection". Also included: Thunder on the Hill (1951), Captain Lightfoot (1955), The Tarnished Angels (1957). Details at classicflix.com

I wonder if this film will be available to purchase by itself, rather than having to buy an expensive collection set to get it?

If you look at all the TCM box sets released in the past none of them, so far, has titles that have later been released singly.

On the TCM website announcing the special Douglas Sirk boxed set, if you click on that, it takes you to a second webpage where you can pre-order the individual movies represented in that set. So YES, TAZA is finally available on DVD on 9-30-2010 in USA Region 1 format, from TCM and Universal Studios.

Also, there is talk of a special 3-D edition of TAZA and other 3-D Universal Pictures of the 1950s on DVD and Blu-Ray sometime next year? for those with new 3-D HD TVs.

Hey Soaring Eagle ..... nice bio! I've always been a fan of Rex Reason ..... how's he doing?

Back to subject. I checked the tcm.com site, and you're right. The individual titles are for sale right underneath the box set. I went back to check previous TCM Spotlight releases, and none of them have the individual titles for sale. This must be a first.

I was talking to several people in different electronics stores recently about 3-D TV, and they all said that it'll either be a success or a bomb by the end of this year. Reasons: too expensive for the set, and especially the glasses; lack of 3-D DVDs and lack of 3-D programming. There will be a big push in the last quarter to sell the sets, and possibly the release of the 3-D version of "Avatar", which would be thrown in free. That's probably why there's just "talk" about possible 3-D editions for next year. There has to be a market for them, and that's still unknown at this time.

Hey neighturboy, this is Wapahilo (Soaring Eagle). Thanks for the post!

I just got my new DVD of TCM and Universal's beautiful Technicolor transfer of TAZA, and it is spectacular! It's been so many years since I saw this movie, it was like seeing it for the first time today!
I highly recommend it! The movie itself is a true classic film, for my money one of the best Westerns of the 1950s! It's true the screenwriter Adams takes a few liberties with the known facts about the true story, but it makes a very enjoyable and entertaining tale. The casting really works well for all, except the actor who played Geronimo was miscast, and he just doesn't have it. Rock Hudson was amazing in this, and Rex Reason, who plays Taza's brother Naiche, and Barbara Rush was believable as an Apache woman, although perhaps a bit too beautiful, considering the hardships of life in Chiricahua country in 1875.
