WAS WARNER BROS. SERIOUS???

I really can't decide what is the most ludicrous: the laughable art direction, Virginia Mayo's silver eye shadow, Jack Palance's jammies in the scene where he fell to his death, the elegant victuals at Nero's feast, or the lousy performances by the entire cast, not just Paul Newman.
Thank Heaven that later biblical epics (QUO VADIS, BEN HUR) were so much better.

reply

not really important but Quo Vadis came before this...

"How do you feel?"
"Like the Kling-Klang King of the Rim-Ram Room!"

reply

OK; I'll amend that to BEN HUR and SPARTACUS.
