Why I gave it a low rating

First, the stilted acting is as if it were a stage production rather than a film.

While some reviewers liked the sets, I thought they were weird looking and too much alike from scene to scene. When I think of ancient castles I think of things more ornate than these barren, grey walls. The backgrounds for the rulers of the ancient world got better after this film was made.

It's choppy and doesn't have a flowing feel for the story. That's another thing that is more theatre than cinema.

I totally agree about the acting. Everyone announces their lines like they are voicing the most important words ever.

It's wretched drek.
