The Thing I Enjoyed the Most

was Milburn Stone's part. It lifted this thing out of the doldrums. It was the largest part I can remember him having before "Gunsmoke" came around. Also, I greatly enjoyed laughing at the terrific non cowboy Van Johnson especially everytime they showed the obvious stuntmen doing all the drudge work.
He didn't even ride very far before a much better rider took his place. Too bad he didn't face off Richard Boone very much, but then Boone blew him off the screen cuz he was an actor with great gravitas. Anyway, it had beautiful scenery and that Gatling gun to take up the lame spots.

I agree completely. Richard Boone, Milburn Stone, the scenery and that Gatling gun made this movie enjoyable for me. Richard Boone does have a magnificent screen presence, and not just in this movie. In everything I've seen him play, he steals the spotlight no matter how small the part.
