One notable difference is that the Thomas Mitchell character of "Morgan" from the movie is played by William Conrad.

The radio version is lacking something very important - YMA SUMAC!

The internet is for lonely people. People should live. Charlton Heston

It was normal for Lux radio plays to have different people in their broadcasts from a film's cast, especially since, as abbreviated versions of the movie, the radio program didn't need as big a cast. Anyway, Yma would've blown the mic away!

William Conrad is also in the Lux version of "Naked Jungle" as the commissioner (with Heston recreating his role but with Donna Reed instead of Eleanor Parker). Ironically, he had played the lead role in an "Escape" version of the original "Leiningen and the Ants" story that aired in 1948. He also in the Screen Directors Playhouse version of "The Killers" graduated to Albert Dekker's role after playing one of the hit men in the movie.

Conrad got his start in radio and thrived in the medium, with that deep, resonant voice of his -- and where his rotund figure didn't matter. He played Sheriff Matt Dillon for four years on the radio version of Gunsmoke (1951-1955) before it went to TV and they needed someone who actually looked the way Matt Dillon should look! And of course he later narrated many TV shows, such as The Fugitive, among others.

My memory is fresh on these details because as it happens I looked WC up just a couple of days ago while checking some information about The Killers (1946), his film debut.
