A static picture


One critic used the term "underwritten": a pretty good observation. It drags and there's not enough tension to make up for the lack of action. There's a lot of whining and belly-aching on the broken-down launch and shivering and griping in the dinghy.A fine cast who don't have good enough material (Nigel Patrick could never ever have been a convincing pleb): Anthony Steel was luckiest, and Paul Carpenter had a decent little role as the 'Walrus' pilot.
I remember seeing this picture right back in the Fifties at a local cinema (long gone,like all the rest) and found it a let-down even then.
