The Skipper and The Professor in the Same Movie

Funny thing, a couple of years ago I remember a hilarious misprint on the front page of the New York Daily News, when they meant to refer to the case of a real-life "rogue cop," but printed it as "rouge cop" instead. Anyway, they don't have a scene together, but future "Gilligan's Island" castaways Alan Hale, Jr. (in a featured role as a bodyguard), and Russell Johnson (unbilled as the policeman standing guard outside Janet Leigh's apartment) both appear in this film a full decade before their legendary three-hour tour (I could swear I heard one of the characters use a phrase very much like that in this movie). They probably could have eventually used the raft in this movie ... George Raft! The movie really is a treasure trove of upcoming TV stars, with prominent roles also being played by the future "Honey West" (Anne Francis), the "Dick Van Dyke Show's" Mel Cooley (Richard Deacon), the 1970s' "Spiderman" version of J. Jonah Jameson (Robert F. Simon), the sheriff of "Bonanza" (Ray Teal) and the head of "S.W.A.T." (Steve Forrest), and just when Robert Taylor closes in on the man who murdered his brother, we first see the culprit only in the dark and think we recognize his voice, then when the lights come on, we see him first only from behind, but we think we know who it is, and then it is confirmed when he reveals himself to be the future "Ben Casey" (Vince Edwards). I also thought I had recognized Joe E. Ross as one of the cops in one scene, but since I didn't hear "Ooh! Ooh!", I'm willing to defer to imdb's not listing him, that his presence was just wishful thinking on my part. But if somebody in the film said "Car 54, Where Are You?" it would have killed me. By the way, "Rogue Cop" is a very entertaining and efficiently made film, and I agree, Robert Ellenstein gave a standout performance.
