marilyn's 'acting' makes this painful at times to watch

i like mm and mitchum quite a bit, but her enunciation in this is laughably bad. mitchum is okay but not his best, either. too bad, because both were nice to look at and had a lot of charm (and acting ability) in other films. i did like the title song as sung by mitchum, and the eerie background vocals.

Actually this is my favorite Marilyn Monroe movie. In this movie she actually gets to act like a human being instead of just a sex object and thats the way she seems to be portrayed in almost all of her other movies. Also in this movie she actually talks normally in a normal voice verses that terrible cutsy-pie dumb blonde voice that they have her use in almost all of her other movies. Finally I love her singing voice in this movie because it sounds normal and not overdone and fake which is how she normally sounds.

Her over-enunciation gets in the way a few times, for sure. Once I got over that, though, I thought she was really pretty excellent. I thought the shot of her walking into the saloon was a great closing shot, and I was disappointed that the movie kept going in order to cram in one more song...but once it got underway I thought her acting really saved it. Suddenly it felt like a real scene about the characters instead of the pat ending that, y'know, it actually is.
