Who played the violin?

I realise the actor was "finger-synching", but who actually recorded these pieces? I thought they were beautifully interpreted. The Tchaikovsky was the best I've come across.

Apparently Ezra, it was Michael Rabin, late, great of some other parish, who can only have been 18 when he recorded it...

Jeez. That was very nice of you. However did you find it?

As soon as I get some pennies, I'll be orderin' that.

You should check out the film, too. Lousy, obviously, but the music was terrific. The Tchaikovsky was the best I've heard it. Very sharp and enunciated.

The first review of it on the IMDb mentioned it, but how THEY knew, I dunno.

I'll check the film out if I see it anywhere. I've heard some Rabin before & it's pretty miraculous - he recorded quite a bit of Paganini too...

At the end of the movie it shows:

Piano solos played by Claudio Arrau

Violin solos played by Michael Rabin

"Lousy, obviously"

No, this was a very entertaining movie, both the story, the acting, and the music.

What Tchaikovsky piece was it? I thought it was beautiful.

reply

it was his (only) violin concerto.
