A feast for the eyes...

...and ears, this movie is full of beautiful people and fabulous music. As another poster commented, this is E.T. at her most flawlessly gorgeous. She's clothed to perfection by Helen Rose. And with those two handsome co-stars, what a pleasure this production must have been for her! The classical music pieces are stirring and well-mounted. This film is great, soapy fun for any movie lover. But it's a special treat for us Taylor fans. God bless her!

I wasn't so impressed with Elizabeth's looks here. She IS gorgeous but for me she looks her best in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" in which she hams it up big time. What impressed me about Liz in "Rhapsody" is how good her acting was! I don't know if Charles Vidor was to her what Elia Kazan was to Brando, or what, but this has to be among the best performances of her career. As Taylor's career moved on, she began progressively overacting. I can't deny Elizabeth was very entertaining in Virginia Woolf, but I dare anyone say with a straight face that she didn't overact a lot in that. Her performance in "Rhapsody" has to be the subtlest of hers I've ever seen, and I've watched a lot of her Taylor's movies.

I'm here, Mr. Man, I can not tell no lie and I'll be right here till the day I die

Dear Tos...Taylor was still a subtle, nuanced performer at this point--and so young. Only about 23. As to her looks, she is extra ravishing in "Cat" because she is bone-thin through most it. (Grief over Mike Todd's death.) In "Rhapsody" she's a bit overripe, here and there.

I was especially impressed by Taylor's acting after the suicide attempt, when talking to Ericson when she was leaving to Paris. She was totally disillusioned with love, and her face and especially eyes showed her contempt for anything called love, having lost all belief in it.

"Overripe" lol, why should she have looked like a fashion model on catwalk?

Here in Norway the film is shown occasionally on TV, and I probably watch is most for the music, though I have always liked Elisabeth Taylor, as an actor and a person.
