this Fred MacMurray light noir often lays there like a mackrel gasping for air. It reminded me of a tv movie even though those would not be made for a few more years. I have seen this compared to "Double Indemnity" and it certainly isn't anywhere near as good as that. Its not terrible, certainly, but not really worth remembering except because it was Novak's first. Now that I have seen it, I can quickly forget it and go back to my usual pursuits of grave robbing and searching for truth.

Life's like that, isn't it? Undercooked then over-baked and finally insipient.

I agree with the first post.

Script is pretty thin, predicable and not really a great example of a film noir.

McMurry must have know that, having starred in much better faire.
