Win Min Than

This is in reply to one of the reviewers who stated he could find no information on Win Min Than, the lady who played "Anna." Her real name is Helga Johnston, and she was born to an Australian father and Burmese mother, according to Wikipedia.

Robert Osbourne stated tonight on the intro to the film on the TCM broadcast that she was the daughter of a German father and a Burmese mother. Maybe her father was a German who had moved to Australia?

reply

Probably. I know that Australia hosts many European immigrants.

I think Wikipedia and Robert Osbourne got it wrong. She was born the daughter of a Burmese government official, according to her bio on IMDb, which is more plausible than what Wikipedia states.

Since they're both user generated content that is an odd claim to make.

The imdb bio states that she was the daughter of an official in British Burma. That could mean her father was British, or of mixed ethnicity. Given her name, something along the latter lines seems possible.

Looks can be deceiving of course, but her appearance, particularly her eye colouring, strongly suggests an interesting heritage.

While I am here, this is an execrable movie. (Not worth starting a new thread over.) The script is trite, barely literate, and rests on premises so flimsy a 12 year old should be embarrassed to present them. The acting is woeful. The effects are amateurish. Completely ridiculous and half baked.
