Siege of castle scene had terrible cinematography

I was shocked to find out that Lucien Ballard had shot the film. Maybe he was new to the widescreen, but that was all that 20th Century-Fox churned out in those days. He later matured into a great lighting cameraman. Maybe it was his time with Kubrick on THE KILLING two years later that did it!

Pretty cool that scene I thought. Straight from the comics.

I couldn't agree more. The whole film reminded me of an episode of 'Bonanza' believe it or not! The setting may have been Arthurian England, but the attitudes and cowboy type dialoge was awful, and as you say, the cinematography was amateurish. Frankly I was shocked, as I love all these old costume dramas such as Ivanhoe and the like, but this made me cringe.

Simply terrible.
