- in a horribly panned-and-scanned version. I saw some of it today. The picture is even narrower than on a regular 1.33: 1 Academy ratio film. I don't know why they've done it, but when they show this film on FMC, during conversations you can only see one person who is talking, or one person plus the tip of the other person's nose. It's as if they had never heard of letterboxing or widescreen photography. And this "Prince Valiant" is a Cinemascope film.

I think part of the problem is that older CRT TV sets have a narrower screen than LCD screens do. I've noticed myself that things are sometimes cut off when watching TV on such but not so much with the newer LCD.
