I watched this again last night and forgot how amazing this was.

Just took this off the General Discussion board. Have at it, folks !

I watched it last night for the fourth or fifth time in several years. It is such a great film with extraordinary acting by all. I never get tired of this film.

My mom bought it for me years ago and I was amazed at how good it was, put it on the shelf and forgot about it. Recently watched it again and had the same reaction. How could I forget how good it is? Hopefully I don't wait 20 years to give it another watch.

I would love to see this movie again. I barely remember it other than Brando wearing a jacket on a crummy day and telling Malden I coulda been a contenda. Wasn't Rod Steiger in it also? All three of them are great actors, but Malden wasn't very versatile, not like Steiger and Brando.

reply

Yes Steiger and Cobb.

reply

But no Malden? I could go to IMDb but I'm trying to see if I remember correctly and you sound like you know what you're talking about. I forget the relationships between the players. Someone must have been the manager. Wasn't a dock union involved too? I may be getting confused with another movie. I actually swiped this from General Discussion as a way to get the OTW site some love and attention. Thanks for responding.

reply

Yes, Malden is in it. Sorry, I should have been more specific.

I don't remember everything about the movie as I've only seen it twice, I do remember Cobb as the mob boss guy, and Steiger working for him. I should watch it again soon.

Thank you so much. I think there is a lot more going on in this movie than something like Rocky. Nothing wrong with the original Rocky but I think the aspirations in this movie were a little different.

reply

Just watched it. Another classic done.

reply

It's a spectacular movie.

I'd love to see it again, I only remember small pieces of it.
But as for my original post, this was my misbegotten objection to someone posting about particular movies in General Discussion where they do nothing to help the Trending profile of said movie.
On The Waterfront won't get very much extra traffic or notice is it's just brought up on General D, which doesn't seem in keeping with the spirit and purpose of having this Movie Chat, at least to me.
But it won't deter anyone from continuing so I gave up trying.
