What a great ending

I love the ending how Brando's all beaten up and he gets up and walks. He's staggering and can barely make it, but he makes it. Between the way the whole line of men are watching him and how he stands there when he finally makes it, it's an amazing scene. You watch the movie and you feel bad when he gets beat up and you figure the bad guys won. But in the end, they don't. Great ending to a great movie.

The ending is among the best.

The ending, I think quite deliberately, evokes Christ's carrying of his cross up the hill of Calvary to be crucified.

it was very christ-figure like. i personally loved this symbolism and i felt it summed up terry malloy pretty well

yeah i agree with the christ-like symbolism. its pretty prominent in most of Marlon Brando's movies. and i liked the way it was played and communicated in on the waterfront.
