McGyver ripoff?

Does anyone remember an episode of McGyver which used the same plot as this film?

reply

Yup, the episode you are thinking of is Trumbo's World, sixth episode of the first season. They borrow footage from The Naked Jungle, and the plot is mainly taken from the novel Leningen vs. the Ants, wich again The Naked Jungle is based on.

Right, that McGyver episode used tons of stock footage from The Naked Jungle. And I'll bet the ants didn't even get residuals!

All the universe . . . or nothingness. Which shall it be, Passworthy? Which shall it be?

I recently bought the complete MacGyver series for a good price, and I saw The Naked Jungle about a month ago. It'll be fun to see just how much stock footage they took from The Naked Jungle.

I'm not sure, but they may have even reused pieces of the set in the MacGyver episode. There are several episodes of that show in which the writers seemed to have taken the premise of an existing film and then added the MacGyver element. Since Paramount produced MacGyver, I guess they had the ability to do that with any Paramount film without copyright issues. Also they probably also had access to all the old sets that Paramount might have had lying around the lot.

The ants' descendants, you mean?

Ha, I was wondering why some ant footages looked familiar when I just watched The Naked Jungle movie. :O
