Can't believe no one's brought up..

Just saw this weird gem last nite.

The scene where she takes a liking to the little native boy and the guy says "You want him?" !!

I mean, i get it...But he actually goes on and says "His parents won't miss him, they have plenty" or some-such. No, he actually says "they happy to see him go---they pop out a few more"----i get it, but my god! And then they never use him in the plot after that. He's cute, he imitates her, but she just scoops him up into the carriage just like that?!! Shows the mentality back then

Great movie! Heston is a bit stiff and i couldn't help but wondering if he wasn't one of those closeted actors we so often hear about from back then. The woman was phenomenal!

I am formerly known as HillieBoliday.....Member since May 2006.

In reference to the little boy being scooped up by "Leinengen's Woman"....At that moment she needed some sort of compassion to connnect with...and what better than a child to sort of ease her insecurity and fright of being in a totally foreign and strange land. I'm thinking may be it was indigenous to the people and their culture letting that child go and be a servant where he would live comfortably, eat well and be safe. May be it brought some sort of pride and prestige to the family that their child would be living and working for Leinengen....whom they all seemed to respect. Just my thoughts.....I have enjoyed the picture for many years.....and must re-read the book.
